Mission Statement
The Department of Education Administration manages the resources and processes associated with the functions of its business units, applies hospital wide policies and procedures applicable to the orientation, education and development of staff, supports the development of education programs and develops initiatives that are designed to acquire knowledge and skills that are of value to the organization and community.
Activities
Affiliation Agreements
The unit is responsible for securing affiliation agreements with undergraduate and graduate academic centers as well as other healthcare organizations for whom Hartford Hospital provides a learning experience. Presently the Division maintains affiliation agreements with 23 organizations.

Independent Internships
Students who were not assigned a clinical rotation at Hartford Hospital as part of an institutional partnership (affiliation agreement) can complete an observational, research or experiential internship during the year by registering with the Department of Education.
Educational Assistance Program (Tuition Reimbursement)
The purpose of the Educational Assistance Program is to encourage the self-development of employees through financial support of degree related education. For more information, Hartford Hospital employees can contact Sylvia Stewart at (860) 545-2757
Sons and Daughters Scholarships
The Department of Education processes applications for Sons and Daughters Scholarships, Hispanic Scholarship and Martin Luther King Scholarship. Scholarships are funded by the Hartford Hospital Auxiliary. For more information, Hartford Hospital employees can contact Val Riccio at (860) 545-5816
Satellite Programs
The administrative staff in collaboration with Audiovisual Services and the Biomedical Engineering Department are responsible for providing satellite programs. The programs are taped and archived for a year in order to enable staff to view programs at their convenience.
